Copper Network Cable

Balanced twisted-pair copper remains the horizontal backbone of nearly every commercial building network, carrying both data and, increasingly, the power that runs the devices at the far end. Heizka manufactures a complete copper cabling system spanning Cat5e through Cat7A, in unshielded and shielded constructions and in four jacket materials. Where Copper Fits in a Structured Cabling System

In a standards-based design, copper handles the horizontal subsystem: the run from the floor distributor or telecommunications room out to the work area outlet. ISO/IEC 11801 and ANSI/TIA-568 both constrain that permanent link to 90 m of solid cable plus patch cords, for a 100 m channel. Conductor gauge, pair separation, shielding and jacket all exist to make that 100 m channel meet its Class limits for insertion loss, return loss, NEXT and alien crosstalk. Backbone and riser distances are typically covered by fiber, with copper picking up the last segment to the outlet.

The Heizka Copper Range

All five constructions below are published with 305 m per box packaging and are built on solid bare copper conductors. Standards references published across the range include ISO/IEC 11801, ANSI/TIA/EIA-568.2-D (568-C.2 for the Cat5e system), IEC 61156-5 and EN 50173-1.

Choosing a Grade

Work backward from the application and the intended service life, not from the switch you are installing today. Cat5e is a 1000BASE-T and PoE grade and is normally specified for device-level and replacement work. Cat6 is the general-purpose Class E choice for new commercial floors. Cat6A is the grade to specify wherever 10GBASE-T to the full 100 m is a requirement, which in practice means dense wireless access point deployments and any cabling expected to outlive two switch refreshes. Cat7A S/FTP is the fully shielded Class FA option for electrically hostile environments and long-horizon installations.

Shielding and Jacket Selection

Shielding decisions are driven by the electromagnetic environment and by alien crosstalk between adjacent cables in dense bundles. The Heizka range covers all three approaches: unshielded U/UTP, foil-screened F/UTP, and individually screened and braided S/FTP. Shielded constructions only deliver their advantage when the screen is bonded continuously through connectors, patch panels and the telecommunications bonding backbone; an unterminated screen is a liability. Jacket choice is a code question. PVC and CM-rated jackets suit general commercial use; LSZH is specified where smoke density and halogen emission matter, such as tunnels, transit stations and enclosed public spaces. Heizka publishes IEC 60332-1-2 and IEC 60332-3 flame propagation compliance for its LSZH copper jackets. Frequently Asked Questions

Are Heizka copper cables certified?
Heizka states that its products are certified to UL, ETL, RoHS and CE standards and meet FCC, TIA and TAA requirements. The 60 Series Cat6 F/UTP cable is published as UL-Listed and RoHS-compliant. Request listing documentation for the specific part number you intend to specify.

What packaging and lead-time should I plan for?
Standard packaging is 305 m per box, with 500 m boxes published for one PVC Cat6 variant. Heizka stocks in California, Florida and New York, and distributes in more than 20 countries from New York, the Netherlands and Singapore.

Is there a system warranty?
All Heizka products carry a standard 1-year limited warranty. Installations built end-to-end with Heizka components qualify for a 15-year system warranty or a 25-year gold system warranty.

Can I mix grades within one building?
Yes, and it is common, but channel performance is set by the weakest component. A Cat6A cable terminated on Cat5e hardware yields a Cat5e channel. Keep cable, connecting hardware and cords at the same grade within a link.
