Wall Mount Cabinets – W Type
The W Type is Heizka’s slim wall mount cabinet, built for sites where wall projection is the binding constraint. At 530 mm wide and only 400 mm deep, it fits corridors, riser cupboards, retail back rooms, classrooms, and plant areas where a deeper enclosure would obstruct a walkway or fail a clearance check. Where the equipment simply will not fit a shallow box, specify the deeper T Type wall mount cabinet instead.
Where the W Type Fits
Choose the W Type when the load is patch panels, a compact access switch, a media converter, or a small UPS shelf, and when the enclosure has to sit in a circulation space. The 400 mm depth accommodates typical 19-inch patching hardware and shallow-chassis switches; full-depth servers and deep chassis switches are outside its intended envelope. Static loading is rated 30 kg to 60 kg depending on model, so the W Type is a distribution and consolidation point rather than a compute enclosure. W Type Sizes and Model Codes
Four heights are published, all sharing the same 530 × 400 mm footprint. Because the footprint is constant, an installer can standardize a wall detail and vary only the U height across a site.

Construction and Access
The frame is SPCC quality cold rolled steel. The mounting profile is 1.0–1.5 mm, with remaining parts at 0.6–0.8 mm, supplied as an assembly structure in a single section. The L-shaped mounting profile is adjustable along the mounting rail, so equipment of different depths can be aligned to the door line rather than fixed at a single plane. The front door is 5 mm tempered glass and opens more than 180 degrees, which matters in a narrow corridor where a half-open door would block passage. Side panels are removable for cabling access, and an optional small round lock secures the front door. Ventilation is provided by front ventilation holes plus a fan cutout on the top panel, so a cooling fan can be added without cutting the enclosure. Cable entry is at top and bottom. The range is built to ANSI/EIA RS-310-D, IEC 297-2, DIN 41491 Part 1, DIN 41491 Part 7, and ETSI.
Specifying the Installation
Fix the cabinet to structure, not to plasterboard alone, and account for both the cabinet weight and the loaded equipment weight against the 30–60 kg static rating. Leave service loops at the top or bottom entry so patch cords are not strained when the door swings. A shallow enclosure has less slack space behind the rails than a floor-standing rack, so plan cable management before populating the U space. Terminate onto Heizka copper cable and finish the field with copper accessories; where a small fiber presence is required, a compact fiber tray can be housed in the same enclosure subject to available U space.
Frequently Asked Questions
How is the W Type different from the T Type?
Depth and width. The W Type is 530 mm wide and 400 mm deep across all four heights, making it the slim option for space-constrained walls. The T Type is 600 mm wide and available in 450 mm or 600 mm depth, and it extends to 15U. If your equipment does not fit a 400 mm deep box, move to the T Type.
Will a standard 19-inch patch panel fit?
Yes. The cabinet uses a 19-inch mounting profile built to ANSI/EIA RS-310-D, so standard 19-inch patch panels and shallow active equipment mount conventionally. Check the depth of any active device against the 400 mm external depth before ordering.
Can I add a cooling fan?
A fan cutout is provided on the top panel, so a fan unit can be fitted without modifying the enclosure. Combined with the front ventilation holes this supports passive and assisted airflow for low-heat-load equipment.
Is the tempered glass door available as steel?
The published W Type specification lists a 5 mm tempered glass front door. If your site requires a solid or perforated steel door, confirm availability against the current datasheet before ordering.
