Fiber Optic Accessories
Most of the loss budget on a finished fiber link is spent at the ends, not in the cable. The Heizka fiber accessories range covers the hardware that terminates, houses and cross-connects an optical channel: rack-mount patch panels in fixed and sliding-tray formats, adaptors in ceramic-sleeve construction, and factory-terminated patch cords and pigtails. All of it is built against ISO/IEC 11801:2008 and ANSI/TIA/EIA 568-C.3, with the connector hardware additionally referencing the IEC 61754 and IEC 61300 series.
Patch Panels: Density and Access
Five panel models are published across two design approaches. The HEAOU241A and HEAOU2884 include an integrated splice tray, so incoming loose-tube or ribbon fiber can be fusion spliced onto pigtails inside the enclosure. The 1S, 2S and 3S models use a sliding tray that pulls forward on rails, keeping every adaptor and splice reachable for moves, adds and changes without unracking the unit.

All panels are 19-inch rack mount and ship adaptor-unloaded with universal panel plates, so the connector interface is a separate line item and a single enclosure can carry mixed SC, LC, ST and FC. Ribbon and single fiber are both supported. The HEAOU2884 ships as a complete 4U enclosure with splice tray and mounting hardware included. Published applications across the family are telecommunications subscriber loop, FTTH, LAN/WAN and CATV.
Adaptors
The adaptor line covers simplex units built around the SC connector footprint and duplex units built around the LC footprint, each in PC, UPC and APC polish and in singlemode and multimode versions — twelve SKUs in total, from HEAAS1P1 and HEAAS1P0 through HEAAD2A1 and HEAAD2A0. Alignment is by high-precision ceramic split sleeve. Metal-flange variants use a zinc-alloy body; the SC and LC plastic-flange variants use a PC plastic housing, which also sets the temperature range: −40 °C to 80 °C for metal, −25 °C to 70 °C for plastic.
Published insertion loss is ≤ 0.2 dB singlemode and ≤ 0.1 dB multimode, with a durability rating of at least 500 mating cycles — the figure to check against a patching-intensive cross-connect field.
Patch Cords and Pigtails
Patch cords are available simplex or duplex with connectors at both ends; pigtails are simplex, connectorized at one end with bare fiber at the other for splicing. Connector options are ST, SC, LC and FC in PC, UPC or APC polish. Fiber grades are OM2 and OM3 at 50/125, OS2 at 9/125, and bend-insensitive G657A singlemode for tight cabinet dressing. Jackets are LSZH, color-coded yellow for singlemode and orange for multimode. Insertion loss is ≤ 0.3 dB singlemode and ≤ 0.2 dB multimode. Custom lengths and custom connector combinations are available; HEAFD0U2LZ3 is a 3 m LC-LC OM2 duplex UPC cord and HEAFTS2U0LZ1 a 1 m LC singlemode UPC pigtail.
Frequently Asked Questions
The panels ship unloaded — what do I have to order alongside?
Adaptors and panel plates for your chosen interface, plus pigtails if you are splicing. Because the plates are universal, you can populate one enclosure with more than one connector type. The HEAOU241A is also available with factory-fitted pigtails if you would rather not source them separately.
Should I use a sliding-tray panel or one with an integrated splice tray?
Choose the integrated splice tray where outside-plant loose-tube or ribbon cable lands and has to be spliced onto pigtails inside the enclosure. Choose a sliding-tray model where the panel is a cross-connect field being patched frequently and forward access matters more than on-panel splicing.
Why is the multimode adaptor insertion loss lower than the singlemode figure?
Singlemode cores are around 9 µm against 50 µm for multimode, so the same mechanical alignment tolerance in the split sleeve translates into a larger fraction of core misalignment and therefore higher loss. The published figures — ≤ 0.2 dB SM and ≤ 0.1 dB MM for adaptors — reflect that.
How many rack units should I allow for a 144-fiber cross-connect?
Three, using an HEAOU1443S at 144 duplex LC, or four with an HEAOU2884 if you also need on-panel splicing and want capacity to 288. Add rack space for fiber slack management above and below the panel.
