How the Fiber Range Is Organized
The catalog splits along the boundary that matters most in design: where the cable is allowed to run. Indoor Fiber Optic Cable uses tight-buffered fiber with aramid yarn strength members and an LSZH jacket, so it can be pulled into risers, plenums and equipment rooms and terminated directly onto connectors. Outdoor Fiber Optic Cable uses stranded loose-tube construction with water-blocking compound and a UV-resistant polyethylene sheath, sized for duct, direct burial and long backbone spans.
Both families are offered across the same fiber grades. Model codes carry the grade in the suffix position, so a single part number tells you the construction and the fiber together — OS2 singlemode for distance and future bandwidth headroom, OM2, OM3 or OM4 multimode for shorter equipment-room and campus links where transceiver cost dominates.

In each series the XX position is the core count and the digit before the jacket code is the fiber grade: 0 for OS2 singlemode, 2 for OM2, 3 for OM3 and 4 for OM4.
Standards the Range Is Built Against
Heizka fiber cable is manufactured to ISO/IEC 11801 for generic cabling, the ITU-T G.651, G.652, G.655 and G.657 fiber recommendations as applicable to the grade, and the IEC 60793-1, 60793-2, 60794-1 and 60794-3 series for fiber and cable test methods. Can I use the indoor tight-buffered cable for a short outdoor run between two buildings?
No. The indoor series is specified with an LSZH jacket and no water blocking; it has no published UV or moisture resistance. For any run leaving the building envelope, use the outdoor loose-tube series, which is jacketed in UV-resistant polyethylene and water-blocked.
What is the difference between the two outdoor constructions?
The non-metallic version is an all-dielectric CSM design with no metallic element, so it needs no bonding or grounding and is unaffected by electromagnetic influence. The steel-tape version adds corrugated steel tape armor and two parallel steel wires, and is the one to specify for direct burial, duct pulls, and routes exposed to rodents or heavy mechanical stress.
Do the model codes let me order a specific core count?
Yes. The XX field in each model code is the core count, quoted at order. Confirm the available range for the construction you are specifying before you release the drawing.
Are OS2 and OM4 available in the same construction?
Yes. Each construction family is published in OS2, OM2, OM3 and OM4 variants, distinguished only by the grade digit in the model code, so a mixed-grade project can be built on one cable design.
